Bite-sized Training Case Study: Medway Council

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

Project: Design and delivery of espresso shots training

Brief: To produce bite-sized training sessions to tackle public sector managers’ development needs based on new 360 degree feedback.

Approach: Steve Walker worked with the council’s workforce development team to design and deliver targeted training modules of bite-sized training in 90 minute and two hour blocks.

The portfolio of bite-sized training will grow as the organisation gets a better understanding of what managers need. Initial espresso shots include:

  • Understanding competencies
  • Defining objectives
  • Delivering feedback
  • Personal development planning

Outcome: Managers can choose the training they need when they need it from a rotating timetable. The format ensures attendees can easily fit the training into their day. Because they know when they will be back at their desks, they are focused on the learning rather than what is happening elsewhere.
