Case Study: Brooks and Bentley Ltd
Project: Outplacement help and support for 35 staff made redundant
Brief: Our Kent-based client was acquired by firm in the Midlands. Staff were offered the opportunity to transfer, but it was not possible for most and we needed to implement a redundancy programme. The company had low staff turnover and many employees were out of touch with the jobs market. Many had not had an interview for years and lacked the confidence to promote themselves.
Approach: All staff were offered confidential one-to-one interviews to gauge the level of support needed. We then developed a workshop programme including sessions on preparing a CV, interview skills and self-presentation. The workshops also included practical mock interview experience. Tailored sessions were run for marketing personnel and self-employment sessions for individuals interested in going into business. A programme of ongoing support continued with 4x monthly workshops.
Outcome: Confidence levels greatly improved and the participants’ ability to handle interviews well resulted in a high number of attractive job offers.
